It was pretty disappointing not to make it to the Olympics, but since then we have had a change of plan, its now on to Burghley. I can't believe how quickly it has come around! It seems like yesterday that I still had a month to go, and now it is only a few days away. At the moment we are polishing up on the last minute things. Hopefully Black Drum (Clive) is fit as a fiddle, and ready to go. So, I am doing lots of work on my dressage test and keeping him thinking with some jumping as well. Tomorrow I am off to have a final lesson with Lucinda Fredericks, before heading up to Burghley on Tuesday.
I am quite early on in the draw so will definitley be doing my dressage at the crack of dawn on Thursday. I've had a little look at some photos of the cross-country course on the Burghley website, I try not to look too much as it just makes me nervous but its good to get an idea what we are in for.
Since I last wrote, we have only been to one full Event, at Gatcombe. I was supposed to be going to Highclere last weekend, but unfortunatley it was cancelled due to the weather. I can't believe we've had another wet summer after last year. Everyone promised me it was very 'unusual' to have so much rain in England, but now I know they were lying!
My Dad is over here from New Zealand, for a bit of support, so he will be coming up to Burghley with me. We leave on Tuesday afternoon, then we have a whole morning to fill in before the trot up at 4pm on wednesday. Lucinda is hopefully coming up to give me a hand before my dressage, which is great! Next installment from Bughley.
