Bucking horse!
Hi Oldwuss Easier than the knitting pattern you have been given with bits of cord is to go and buy some daisy reins (not grass reins) which do the same as your cord contraption, although they are sold as a way of stopping a pony from eating grass and cost about £10.

Stretch base of neck
Hi Cazzamamma What you are seeing in the videos is a horse lowering his head and stretching forward from their withers, which is described as working “round and low”.

Leg yield
Hi Lucky Me Horses naturally lean into pressure so the first thing that you need to do is to teach your horse to move away from it.

Improving a lack-lustre walk?
Thank you Horse Guru for those great suggestions, and although I do the occasional shoulder fore out hacking, I will now be inspired and invigorated to do lots more shoulder in while out hacking in the rain!

I’m glad you have sorted your problem Tillyflop – it goes to show that the first thing you should always do is look for a physical cause for a change in behaviour.

Disastrous canter
My boy, a trotter X [standardbred]was very immature, and he would not offer a canter on the lunge till about his second year ridden, age five, also I had to do a lot of hill work to build up the hindquarter muscles, he cantered nicely in a straight line, but tended to be unbalanced in the school, did lots and lots of different exercises, grids, loops, trotting poles, little fences, loose schooling and so on, quite a lot of things others horse seemed to find natural he found difficult, physio helped too.

Bad manners...
After five years and six months I have at last found the forever home he needs, it was touch and go whether either of us would make it through this week, but we did.
