I have just read that Katie Price is to be the new face of equestrianism in London. See Times Online. She is competing, written horsey books and has now launched her own equestrian clothing range. Does this mean men will at last become more interested in horse sports or will pink hot pants really catch on at Badminton. I think we should all get behind her efforts, don't you?

I can't take seriously the whole celebrity mad scene but anything that lets people become aware of the joy of horseriding has to be good...

I think that having Katie Price as the face of equestrianism in London is a really good idea. If it means that it will get more people interested in horses then i think it is a really good move by equestrianism. Katie Price is a really good rider and she is becoming a really good polo player!

I think it is good that Katy is promoting interest in horses but I feel it’s a shame that we have to have someone famous for something other than riding to promote our sport. Does football or other such sports use celebrities who dabble to promote them? No. They use the athletes at the top of their game. William Fox-Pitt has proved that we can get horse-sport athletes to become a household name and we also have Zara Phillips who has proved that it is hard work that gets you to the top of evening, not purely money and connections. It would be so much better if we could have our top riders promoting our sport instead of a glamour model.
