  • Bike polo gets you seriously hot and sweaty!

In hot pursuit in the bicycle polo!I got back to Hampshire for two full days and much frantic catching up to come... Yesterday I schooled and hacked the horses as quickly as I could in the morning before attending a charity bicycle polo match in the afternoon. My friend Charlotte Casson organised it in place of her birthday party in aid of the Heaton-Ellis Trust. David Heaton-Ellis, a well known figure in the polo world, recently died of the terrible Motor Neurone Disease and Charlotte has been a great support to his family helping with their polo yard. Many friends turned up and we crashed and battered ourselves as much as possible on the unfortunate bicycles, it was enormous fun and provided much amusement as the crashes got more and more spectacular as the play got more fiercely competitive! However I do much prefer playing on horses, turning and peddling uphill are very frustrating! A number of girls stuck to spectating, keeping themselves pristine and sweet smelling, whilst others like myself got seriously hot and sweaty as well as ending up with impressive bumps and bruises!

Give me a horse any day of the week!

Even the bikes looked the worse for wear!

A huge hog roast followed as well as plenty of drinking (except for me as I don't like the taste) and some dancing in a tent (until someone upset the DJ who packed up and stormed off! We're still not sure what happened or who was the culprit!). The evening was rounded off by drunk bike polo in the dark for the most intrepid (or foolish)!

Today I was pretty knackered, but managed to hack a lot of horses in the morning before reviving myself enough for a friend's birthday picnic in a park near Ascot. I showed off my impressive purple bruises all over my legs wearing a skirt and Tom was accused of beating me up!
