Knowing how gutted we all feel when a horse goes lame before even a local competition I'd like to start the ball rolling and send sympathy to Zara Phillips on the news that Toytown isn't going to be fit for the Olympics. Such rotten luck for him and for her...

I think this is the second time she has missed out on a chance for Olympics. She must want to curl up with disappointment. Some people say she has it easy because of who she is. Well this proves she has to take the knocks like everyone.

I completly agree. I was actually quite gutted when I heard, that sort of bad luck should never happen to anyone.

I must say that a girl with her talent, its a shame for the team to lose her from the team. On a personal level i think that even though this is an horrific blow for her, i hope that she will use this as a mental strengthener. Sh*t happens. sounds harsh but that is the eventing life for you. I feel utterly and totally sorry for her, but the same thing happened to ginny elliot in her day and look at all that she was able to achieve.

I know that it happens, and that's eventing but didn’t she miss out on the Olympic games in 2004 too? Which must make it worse.

Just goes to show, Zara has avoided running him at Badminton to save him for the Olympics and then he goes lame going up the gallops. He might have been her best shot at winning a Badminton.
