In this section you can read about a host of leading riders and equestrian professionals across all disciplines, as well as those featured in Horse Hero filming. They tell us about their goals, heroes and heroines, favourite horses and they offer some top advice. There are some great photos of them with their families, friends and animals (which you can click to enlarge). Sadly, they are no longer up to date!

  • Caroline Cherry is part of the '09 Endurance Developement Squad. Intending to be a show jumper, she got accidentally sidelined into endurance as a result of her mother's interest and was immediately hooked!

  • Richard Maxwell is a horse behaviourist. He started out in the Household Cavalry and later trained with Monty Roberts. His methods and teaching blend the best of conventional methods with natural horsemanship.

  • There's been no stopping Claire Gallimore since she won a BD national talent spotting event age 13. In '09 and '10 she represented GB on the Pony dressage team with Gigolo at the European Champs'.

  • Alex Hua Tian began riding in Beijing and moved to the UK in 2001. He progressed from Novice to 3* in 3 years, whilst at Eton school. Alex was the first rider to event for China at an Olympic Games in 2008 age 18!

  • Francesca originally evented but switched to reining when she was unable to continue jumping. She is the highest earning woman rider in Europe and is on the British team. She competed at WEG '06 and Europeans '09.

  • Shane Breen honed his riding skills hunting in Ireland and has since become a leading show jumper representing Ireland, with many international successes to his name. Married to Chloe Bunn, they are based at Hickstead.

  • Dressage rider Jane Gregory rode for GB at two Olympic Games. She was a specialist at producing her own horses and trained in Europe, first with Sjef Janssen and then with Ulla Salzgeber. Sadly, she died in 2011.

  • Lynne Crowden is at the forefront of British breeding. Hugely successful with many of her dressage youngsters now ridden by the Eilbergs, Lynne's mare Farouche won the 5 year old World Champs' in Germany.

  • Susanna Bordone has ridden for Italy in two Olympic Games and was part of the bronze medal winning team at the European Champs' '07. In '09 she represented Italy in dressage and eventing at the Europeans!
  • Imke Schellekens-Bartels
  • Imke Schellekens-Bartels
  • Imke is a member of the Dutch dressage team and one of the best riders in the world. She has won many championship medals including team silver at the Beijing Olympics and gold at WEG '10.
  • Sophie Christiansen
  • Sophie Christiansen
  • Sophie Christiansen is one of Team GB's top Para dressage riders and has won Olympic, World and European gold medals. She was awarded an MBE at the age of 21. Sophie is also studying for a maths degree.
  • Mark Tomlinson

  • Mark Tomlinson is a high goal polo player who competes internationally. He's on the England team and plays for Apes Hill Club Barbados. Mark comes from a polo dynasty who are owners of the Beaufort Club.
