In this section you can read about a host of leading riders and equestrian professionals across all disciplines, as well as those featured in Horse Hero filming. They tell us about their goals, heroes and heroines, favourite horses and they offer some top advice. There are some great photos of them with their families, friends and animals (which you can click to enlarge). Sadly, they are no longer up to date!

  • Helen has show-jumped all her life and won a team gold when she first represented her country aged 16. She shot to into the limelight in 2003 by winning the Foxhunter final with her talented mare Opportunity B.

  • Sophie won team and individual golds at the Para Europeans and WEG. She made history when selected for the able-bodied Young Rider Europeans, and won team gold at London 2012 and two individual silvers!

  • Karen started as a professional show jumper but has since turned to scurry driving. She won the Scurry Driving Points Champs '07 with Suited & Booted and was third in the European Championships in 2010.

  • At just twelve years old, Olivia won the Pony Club Dressage Championships. She went to the Pony Europeans last year and picked up the bronze medal. Now 15 she is preparing to move up to Juniors.
  • Beanie Sturgis

  • Having ridden since age three, Beanie has been successful all the way up through Pony Club and Juniors and is now a professional event rider. She impressed going clear inside the time at her first Badminton with Duel.

  • Tor has competed on five European eventing teams including Ponies, Juniors and Young Riders. She completed her first Badminton in 2008 with homebred, Highleadon (see in Library: Badminton Horse Trials 2).

  • Svend is one of the most accomplished vets in the world. He specialises in equine orthopaedics at Willesley Equine Clinic, is an 'expert witness' in veterinary court cases and senior course vet at Ascot Races.

  • Georgie represented GB from '02 to '08 on Pony, Junior and YR teams and won the Southern Elementary Regionals '09. She is now training and competing her young horses alongside running a livery yard.

  • Lucy has competed successfully in Pony Club show-jumping and Prince Phillip Cup mounted games. She has been scurry driving since she was 16 and is now competing and winning at the top of the sport.

  • A well-renowned vet and specialist in the field of equine reproduction, Chris is based at Willesley Equine Clinic. He also manages the country's leading semen collection centre at West Kington Stud.
  • Amy Young

  • Amy is a double gold medal-winning event rider from the North-East. She was chosen to go to the Hong Kong Olympic test event in 2007 and now has a place on the World Class Start and Potential Programmes.
  • Daniel Neilson
  • Daniel Neilson
  • Having represented his country in show-jumping since the age of 12, Daniel is now making his mark at senior level, where he was named "Leading Rider" of the Villeneuve Loubet Tour in France, March 2008, age 18.
